Oregon is not to bad compared to the other 225 metropolitan areas in the United States. The Housing Opportunity Index for 3 qtr 2012 shows Salem OR at 85.2% of homes are affordable to the Median Income family ranking it number 79 in the Nation. Corvallis ranked 130, Eugene ranked 143, Bend ranked 157 with Medford and Portland ranking 161 and 177 respectively. Unfortunately Bend and Medford lead the Oregon metropolitan areas with 10.2 and 10.0 unemployment rates respectively.
